Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) is a
world renowned name. As per media a report, MIT’s president L
Rafael Reif has shown his desired for enhanced collaborations and
partnerships with Indian institutions in healthcare, renewable
resources and education.
This is a good sign for Indian stakeholders engaged
in these respective fields. Perry4Law
Organisation and Perry4Law’s
Techno Legal Base (PTLB) welcome this move of MIT and
believe that both MIT and Indian institutions would be benefited by
this move.
At this stage MIT is only interested in having
collaborations with Indian institutions and there is no intention on
its part to establish its campus in India. This means that virtual
campus and e-learning
options can be explored by MIT. This also means that lifelong
learning may also be considered by MIT.
However, at this stage it is very difficult to
predict the future plans of MIT as it is still identifying the domain
areas where collaborations with given institutions might work. A
three-way collaboration involving public, private and academic
institutions may be adopted by MIT.
